Leaf it out

Happy birthday, mum (for two months’ time!):

Lace Leaf Scarf

Pattern: Lace Leaf Scarf from Vogue Knitting Spring/Summer 2005
Yarn: Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk DK Shade 10, 3 balls

I’m really very happy how this turned out. I love the way the edges curve with the leaves and the clever two part construction, so that the leaves are facing in the same direction either side when it’s hanging around a neck. The pattern specified a pure silk yarn, but I think the alpaca silk blend looks just as nice; still has good definition of the lace and it blocked beautifully.

Today is also a good day for notebook purchasing! I finally found what I was looking for (A5, spiral bound, squared paper) in Paperchase. So hurrah for them, because I was beginning to think that I was looking for something that didn’t exist!

And to top it all, I’ve picked up the raglan sweater again after a break of a month (so much for finishing the sleeves on holiday!), and am about a third of the way through the second sleeve. I hope to have considerable progress to show you all after the weekend.

All in all, I think this has been a very good knitting week!

  8. Your scarf is so beautiful that I felt compelled to track down a copy of that VK pattern so I could make one myself. Hope I can make one half as good as yours!
