Spiralling out of control

Progress has been made! I repeat, progress has been made!

Often when I’ve knitted a pattern three times and frogged it three times, I start to get a tiny bit fed up with it. But so far, this one’s not bothering me too much. Even the colour pooling is spiralling around the sock now. How does it know?!

The pattern is an adaptation of the lacy diagonals pattern I used for the Bertie scarf. I’ve changed the method of decreasing and adjusted the repeats so that the whole thing has just two pattern rounds. Now it’s plain sailing until I get to the gusset. Unfortunately, without the benefit of a 360 degree photo, you’ll have to take my word for the fact that the eyelets spiral around the whole sock. Once I reach the gusset, my plan is to carry on the diagonals left at the front until they reach the far side of the sock and then carry on straight. So it’ll look like the sock has laddered, or has zips in it. Well, that’s my plan so far. We shall see what happens when it gets to that point.

A question, though: identical or mirror-image socks? I’m considering making the other sock spiral in t’other direction. But maybe that’ll be a bit cheesy…

Daisy: I went down to 2.00mm needles. I think I could possibly have even gone down to 1.75mm, but then I’d have to increase the number of stitches in the round and adjust the pattern and I’m not going to do that!
