Yuletide Yarn!

What santa brung me:

This Hipknits 4ply cashmere is my Yarntide gift from Helen:

And two skeins of lovely Lorna’s Laces in Valentine from Cazza:

I was very, very spoilt. :-)

I can finally post some finished objects pictures, too! Today we have:

Pattern: Endpaper Mitts by Eunny Jang
Yarn: Rowan 4ply Soft in Expresso and Fairy, 1 x 50g ball of each
Given to Badger in lieu of Alligator Mitts!

So now my plan is to carry on finishing off my outstanding projects and have a clean slate ready for the New Year. Though it doesn’t hurt to have a fiddle with some of my lovely new stash, does it?!

What will Santa bring?

Presents are all knitted and wrapped. Tree is decorated with tiny gnome heads, freshly picked from tiny gnomes:

Hope you all have a very happy Christmas. I will return in a few days with (hopefully) lots of photos of yarn-ish gifts from Santa!

More Weirdness…

I’ve been tagged by Helen to list six weird things about me. Only six?!

  1. I could happily spend my life eating nothing but Dauphinose potatoes.
  2. I once appeared on a BBC1 daytime quiz show.
  3. I really like the shape of my feet.
  4. I prefer the taste of dried fruit to fresh.
  5. I like being slightly cold in bed at night, rather than warm.
  6. Before I got married, I had an unpronouncable Polish surname and whenever I told anyone, without fail they would say “sorry?”

Right! As per the rules*, I tag Cazza, Kai, Lin, Carola, Kay and Claire.

I don’t think I’m nearly as weird as people think… ;-)

*THE RULES: Each player of this game starts with the “6 weird things about you”. People who get tagged need to write a post in their blog about their own 6 weird things as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave a comment that says “you are tagged” in their comments and tell them to read your blog.

My new noggin warmer!

No cold ears for me this year!

“Does my head look big in this?”

“Oi! Who turned out the lights?!”

Pattern: Headline News from Stitch ‘n Bitch Nation
Yarn: Paton’s Jet (70% wool, 30% alpaca), shade #808, 2 x 50g balls (though closer to 1 and a half)
Modifications: None! Though I didn’t have plastic mesh for stiffening the brim, nor could I find any on the internet. Not that I was actually sure what I was looking for… But anyway, I had a Blue Peter moment and cut up a 6 pint milk carton instead (empty, of course) and it worked perfectly.

I still can’t show photos of my Christmas knits, unfortunately, as they haven’t all arrived or even been unwrapped. But they will follow soon!

Christmas knitting be done!

It’s been a frantic couple of weeks but finally all the Christmas knitting is complete. I’ve knitted more in the past month than I thought I could possibly manage. Photos will follow shortly, including my splendid new winter hat.

I’ve been having a play with the blog template today, and need to sort out a few things, which is why the Bertie pattern is currently unavailable. Hoping to have it all sorted and looking tidy very soon!
