That’s how many knitting books I have, according to my booklist on LibraryThing. Sixty three. How did I get so many?! I may have bought a few books over the past year, and the programming books which shared the knitting book shelf may have been gradually ousted in order to create more room for yarny books, but to find out that it’s that many is scary to say the least.

I admit I am a book hoarder. A few years ago, Penguin brought out a selection of classic novels in paperback for £1 each. I bought about twenty. Not to mention that I have five copies of Wuthering Heights in various forms, including a paperback for the bath, a Folio Society edition for reading in bed and a tiny hardback version because it was small and cute. And my sister’s copy that she bought for A’ Level English Literature and hated the book so much that she gave up the course. :-D

I suppose the question is whether I need to have sixty three knitting books (well, 61 knitting books and 2 crochet books!). And I’m also intrigued to know whether I am the only knitter to have a rather large collection!

The question is, have you knit from each one?!!! :) Books are wonderful, 63 sounds great for the knitting ones, if the internet crashes you will always have a pattern to hand without having to look elsewhere!

  2. You’re not the only one. I think I have 79 on Library Thing so far and those are the ones I entered off the top of my head. I haven’t knit from each one and probably never will but they do provide excellent inspiration.

nah thats way too many, infact I think you need to give me the ones you think I would love ;)

I think I maybe have about ten :(

If it makes you feel better, I just had a quick count up of my knitting books and I have about 140 on the shelves, and at least another 10 lying around. I love books (you would never have guessed!) but I think I need more walls in the house on which to put bookcases.

63 knitting books sounds perfectly reasonable and also gives me a target to aspire to (I currently only have about 45).

I think you should have as many books as a shelf, and then another and then another etc can actually cope with storing. :)

not admitting anything here at all. :P

Like yarn, ‘books don’t count’. ;o)

I have only 8 or 9 knitting books but they have been acquired over only 6 months.

I have *about* 200 archaeology books. I am now working on an “archaeology + fibre arts” subset. The novel situation was pretty ridiculous until I moved in with the beloved and SIX large boxes full of paperbacks went to the cancer research shop, but I’ve started up that collection again now…

I feel that you can never have to many books :) .

  11. I think I’ve got about twenty knitting books (I’m not including magazines, that would take the count way up!) But I have far too many books overall, about four bookcases full, and some at my mum’s that I haven’t moved yet.

Only 2 crochet books? That’s not very balanced. I suggest you either buy 59 more crochet books or share out 59 knitting books between me and Cairi :-D Then you will be in a true Karmic state.

Hey, that’s not strictly true. I didn’t give up A-Level English because I didn’t like Wuthering Heights. I gave it up because A-Level English Lit wasn’t for me.
