After my last post about how half my knitting never gets blogged about, I got to thinking. I get tired of never being able to write about the progress of some of my projects. By the time they’re done, any sticky moments are forgotten with and I just have my lovely finished object to pet. So with the help of a handy jump, I am going to write about everything, and give fair warning to anyone who might spoil a surprise for themselves if they read on. That way, I can write about every stage of a project and, hopefully, there’ll still be a surprise at the end of it.

So today’s post is not for viewing by Australian designers who are called Diane. For the rest of you, click on the link below for more!

This scarf doesn’t have to be ready until August, but there’s nothing like being prepared. Diane was playing with my laceweight stash a while ago and picked out a skein of Baruffa Cashwool that she liked the colour of. And also mentioned that she had a hankering for a wide rectangular stole that could be folded in half if needed.

This fits the bill, I think:

The pattern is from Victorian Lace Today. You know, I’ve raved about that book but not actually knit a thing from it? Other than the frogged Dolphin Lace Scarf, of course. Must knit more lace!

This will be a first for me, as I’ve not knitted anything with patterning on both sides before. I like the comfort of having a nice purl row in between all the yarn overs and knitting together. But the border looks lovely on this scarf, so it’ll be worth it. And though I’ve got 6 months to complete it, I think I need to speed up just a bit:

Alpine Knit Scarf

Just keep it under your hats. ;-)

That is so beautiful; if anyone can manage it, you can. A perfect present for a fellow knitter.

Erm, when I clicked on comments it popped up your page and the WHOLE post. Luckily I saw only the bottom edge of a photo and would have had to scroll up to see any more (I saw a bit of your carpet).

    Don’tlookdon’tlookdon’tlookdon’tlook….

You have NO idea how hard it is :-( If you’re going to ban people from reading then I guess you should ban them from commenting too.

Mmmm pretty, I love that pattern. And I bet it’ll look gorgeous in something other than white (not that I don’t like white, but… you know.)

That’s my favourite pattern from VLT. I will make it one day. Looks like a beautiful colour too.
