I haven’t been blogging as much as I would recently because, if I’m honest, knitting doesn’t really excite me any more. I look at all the yarn in my stash and feel nothing. And there are lots of other exciting hobbies out there, as I discovered at the weekend while browsing through the craft section of WHSmith. I went in for a padded envelope and came out with enough bits and pieces to start my new hobby – building models with matchsticks. I wanted to start small, but one kit, of a horse drawn fire engine, really stood out to me. It didn’t take long to finish, either.

This one is going to my MIL for her birthday. She loves it!
So that’s the end of knitting for me. I’ll be giving away my stash before midday today, so come along if you want a bargain!
And look out for more finished objects soon! This domain name will still exist while I transfer everything to www.hauntedmatchsticks.com. It’s been fun, but matches are the future.

You certainly had me fooled, I couldn’t believe anyone would want to take up making models with matchsticks in preference to knitting, then I realised the date!!
Oh so funny.. laughed so hard.. my son thought he aught to call someone to take me away.. thanks for a great start to the day!
Pass us a match when your done.. can never have enough matches
Tee hee!!!!
Ha! Ha! So not funny missus. *shakes head while still giggling*
You got me worried for a second. But hey, if you want to give your stash away, you still can!
Had me going to a second too! I needed something to make me smile as I feel horrible and have an exam to revise for.
I wonder if there’s a matchstick model blog somewhere that has a post about starting knitting.
Oh! Gave me a nasty turn there, for a second
lol, I definately did a double take there too
Hahahaha! Matchstick models, that’s a good one. I was very confused and a little worried, I must say.
Ha ha, I didn’t fall for this one LOL
Well its a few days after April 1st and you had me fooled for a few seconds!!
Heeheeeee. =D
Matchstick models, huh? If you ever do get around to it, do build me a large matchstick castle, complete with gargoyles, please. Life-sized, of course, or else, what’s the point?
Those are going to be some happy peasants. Once they figure things out and start chasing me around with torches and pitchforks, that sucker is going to burn really well!
Oooh, I read this on Saturday the 5th, so got all excited at the thought of stash – and sad that knitting didn’t excite you any more. So glad it’s a leg-pull!
Some of us are not as young as you and therefore our cardiac systems are not as resilient! Especially when we have been waiting with bated breath for the Hareton socks! I suppose, on the other hand, we should be wiser with age and not so easily fooled! I hope next year’s April Fool involves cats or cakes or anything other than your knitting, which is much appreciated.
Ooh! Ooh! Can I have a matchstick fire engine for my brithday too please
* is excited *
