I have a problem with lace. Not with lace yarn, which falls into my lap far too easily, but my problem is when I make a mistake in a lace pattern, frog it and then nothing on Earth can motivate me to restart. The Alpine Lace scarf has been no more for some time now. After having to frog about two pattern repeats, I couldn’t find the urge to cast on again. And then the new issue of Interweave arrived and there was lace!
The Cobweb Lace Stole is beautiful. I love the interesting swirly lace patterns and funny holey bits (technical, aren’t I? 
). I confess don’t enjoy knitting stoles as much as triangular shawls as they tend to be very repetitive. Whereas I don’t mind knitting scarves because they are quick and simple, stoles seem to take forever once the pattern is established. The end result is always worth the effort, though. And if I only ever knit lace in triangles, I’d most likely end up just as bored with them as with rectangles. Maybe the answer is to knit another Pi Shawl. I’ve only made one of those before. 
The yarn I’m going to be using is Drops Alpaca (shade #6347), another one that Diane fancied in my stash. And I have to give huge thanks to Bruce at Scandinavian Knitting Design. I knew the three balls I had in my stash would possibly not be enough for the shawl, so emailed to ask about the vague possibility of buying some more in the same dyelot. Of course, it was all gone (I bought the yarn a year ago!). However, he was happy to accept the return of the three balls I already had in part payment for six more in the same dyelot. Six may be too many, but it’s better to be safe than sorry!

Ooo, that *is* one beautiful pattern ! How come I miss all the pretty patterns in magazines until after they’ve all sold out ?
Oh and agree, Bruce at SKD is fab. It’s one of my favourite online shops - great yarns, great service !

it’s a lovely pattern isn’t it. I managed to snag a copy of the magazine while I was in Manchester and this is one of the patterns that leaped out

Ooh, I’d never come across that Scandenavian Knitting Design before! They have Kauni! Squee, but grr, you just added to my huge list of yarnpron shops!

the stole is lovely. lucky Diane. I lie Scandanavian knitting design too. Their yarns are very reasonable.

I understand what you mean about stoles, though. I have one on the bottom of my knitting bag right now. It’s been either frogged or on the needle for… gosh, a couple of years now. Ungh.
