Ah, the black hole of stockinette sleeves. Perhaps you could reward yourself by setting a certain amount of rows to do per day, then allowing much time for something more appealing afterward?

I find that to get through vast amounts of stocking stitch I either need to find something good to watch on TV or have a really challenging project on the go that I cant do when kids are awake so then am forced to knit the stocking stitch then.

Failing that have you thought of locking all your other knitting (or just the needles ) away so you have to do that project.

At least I guessed it was a cardi! I know what you mean about wanting the thrill of complex and exciting stitches. But I have discovered that I can read a book from my computer while doing stockinette because I don't have to look -- so that's an upside.

But stocking stitch isn't boring, it's luuuurvely. Tell you what. I'll do your stocking stitch for you, and you can do all the difficult bits of my knitting for me. Deal?

So thats what it is. Its very beautiful, don't you want to get it finished so you can wear it? I do know what you mean, starting a new project is the best bit. I'm currently on something bigger than the children's things I've been knitting recently and wishing I was making myself a pair of socks.
