I was going to post a picture of us all bundled up for the cold weather, especially for Kai, but Oscar’s school is closed because of “heavy snow”. Ahem.

It’s slightly heavier than before Christmas, but based on last February, it’s nothing. And Henry’s school was still open, much to his disgust. Just checked on the school’s website, and they’re closing early at 1pm, probably because nicer parents than me let their offspring stay at home and there’s no one to teach. *blushes*
And it’s just started snowing again, so fingers crossed that the buses stay in service til he gets home and I can stop feeling evil.

wow, comparaed to what I just see by looking out side now, that’s nothing! but what a wonderful picture!
Lol, we’ve had heavy snow for the past few weeks, and the local school was open on Tuesday, but on Tuesday evening we had a slight dusting of snow (like, enough to cover the ground, nothing more). So of course, the school was closed yesterday.
It’s not the amount of snow, but the kind/amount of clearing equipment the town owns. Here, everything closes down for a couple of inches. Snow plows are regular trucks with a plow attachment. In upstate NY, where I went to college? DUDE! Huge snow plows. Capable of clearing snow that’s up to your thigh. In the 4 years I was there, class was never canceled, not once. Here, they can’t handle half that snow.
Well…I’m new here. Or maybe not so much, as I ran across your blog sometime before Christmas while looking for a lace scarf pattern to knit for my sister-in-law. I ended up chrocheting her one instead, but I’ve been following your blog ever since. You do beautiful work, and I’ve been very inspired. But, since I have a baby daughter of my own, (another reason I enjoy your site) inspiration is moving slowly.
Now that I’ve sort of introduced myself, the short version of the long story is that I’m looking for advice on lace knitting needles, and it looked like you would be a good person to ask. I’ve done a bit of lace knitting on regular needles, and have figured out that if I’m going to keep it up, I’d better have the proper equipment, if I value my sanity. So any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Yep, agree with Batty – where we were in scotland over new year we had a good two feet of snow and they just ploughed it every day so life went on, here in Salford though they didn’t grit (let alone plough!) and it was dead icy so life ground to a halt over about 6 inches of snow! Argh!
xx
I love your photo further down with your feet and matching baby feet – eek! how cute!
