This is Rose today. Note her clothes:

This afternoon, enter one very nice but clearly unobservant cat-sitter (we’re going away for a few days over the Easter Break).
Rose: *makes cute faces*
Cat-sitter: Oooh, who do we have here? What’s his name?
Me: *through gritted teeth* Rose.
Cat-sitter: Oh, it’s a girl, is it?
Me: Hmmmphurrgh.
I think I need this holiday.

She clearly needs a pink Pod of Cetacean cardigan!
Rose definately looks like a little girl to me, complete with the cutest expression!
Have a lovely holiday, Kate!
My guess is this person hasn’t had an eye exam in a while.
I always have problems with that (Iwork at a fabric store, lots of new mothers) but I try to never assign a gender if there’s no deciding colors. Is it insulting to ask if it’s a him or her? I normally only have to if it’s a new baby. just wondering because I would never want to insult customers but I LOVE babies, and your Rose is too cute!
I feel your pain. When my now-27-year-old daughter was a baby I had her dressed in pink booties, a pink eyelet and lace trimmed sunsuit with a pink eyelet and lace trimmed jacket tied with pink ribbon. An old man told me I had a cute baby and asked if it was a boy or a girl.
It’s not your fault.
