Cardigan and Felt

(Please excuse the supremely crappy photo. It’s raining hard here today and the light is terrible.)

Although the little Offset Wraplan has stalled somewhat – I need to re-knit the one sleeve I’ve done because I think my picking up around the armhole is shoddy and it will bother me if I don’t fix it – I’m looking ahead to when it’s all done and I get to play with animal shapes for the appliqué. :-D

I ordered some wool felt from Blooming Felt in Orange Sherbet and Banana Popsicle. I want to keep this garment as neutral and unisex as possible, and had in mind that a peachy/apricot sort of colour would work well with the green. However, I think the yellow actually looks better. And of course it’s now crying out to be decorated with a little duckling!

I’ve never embroidered anything in my entire life so am a but anxious about how it’ll turn out. I may need some virtual hand holding. ;-)

  1. Good evening Kate! TI thinkthe yellow looks best too. Look forward to seeing your finished handiwork. My srumptious parcel arrived today. Thank you so, so much. It was beautifully wrapped and even had that yummy choc bar hidden away to surprise me. The colour of the yarn is absolutely gorgeous. It’s going to become a ‘Branching Out’ scarf. I have the yarn, pattern and needles ready and waiting to take to the cottage in North Yorkshire next week….. along with several other projects…. just in case it rains all day every day for the whole fortnight ;) . have a fun weekend! 2. What is this rain of which you speak?

I have done some middling embroidery in my time — my mother was an absolute master of the craft (probably why I knit; no competition from anyone else in the family). The thing about embroidery on children’s clothing is that the more primitive it looks, the cuter it is.

    You’ll be fine.

  3. Love the way you say I’ve never embroidered anything in my entire life then launch yourself into it. I prefer the peach but what do I know, I just keep knititing the same old socks – in a very happy way.

  4. teal + yellow = win combination

i love embroidering me, you can just doodle around and lose yourself. Very relaxing. There is no definitive endpoint so you can just carry on with it as long as you like. (Until you get bored, you need another brew or your telly program has finished…)
