Pattern: Garter Rib from Sensational Knitted Socks by Charlene Schurch
Yarn: Amy’s Rainbow Pip Skinny, approx. 60g in colour: Guacamole
Needles: 2½mm circs
It’s always good to be appreciated. These socks have a double thumbs up from Oscar who is going to end up being another Christmas sock recipient at this rate.
The pattern was very straightforward. Garter ribbing is a bit less tedious than regular ribbing and makes for a good basic sock. I cannot praise Sensational Knitted Socks enough. Back when I first started out knitting socks, the weren’t the dozens of free patterns available as there are now *is old* and this is the sort of book that would have come in useful back then. From starting out with the basics of sock knitting to the dozens of different stitch patterns that you can use to make socks of various sizes, it’s one of the few knitting books that I would never get rid of if I needed shelf space.
Unfortunately, there’s still no sign of my sweater yarn. So to stop me fretting about it, I have dug out the Log Cabin Blanket I started in January (!). Some simple garter stitch is very soothing, which is what I need right now.
